Signing of a cooperation program to link government tenders with local products

The General Secretariat of the Tender Board has signed a cooperation program with the Public Authority for Industrial Estates (Madayn) with the aim of linking government tenders with local products. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Engineer Badr bin Salem bin Marhoon Al Maamari, Secretary General of the Tender Board, and His Excellency Engineer Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, and Engineer Dawood bin Salem Al Hadabi, CEO of "Madayn".

The program aims to support the industrial sector, increase the efficiency of government spending, and raise the proportion of local content in projects, contracts, and government purchases to enhance local economic development and reduce reliance on imports.

The Rabt platform, developed as part of the cooperation program, serves as the platform for managing and allocating local products and services in government tenders. This platform is also used to measure the added local value of these products and services. It is worth mentioning that one of the key roles of the General Secretariat of the Tender Board is to enhance the efficiency of spending and promote local content associated with projects, contracts, and government purchases, in accordance with Royal Decree (32/2022). The General Secretariat performs this role in integration with governmental entities, the private sector, civil institutions, and the community, as local content has become one of the most important economic policies to achieve the highest return for the Sultanate from total spending on local production factors, especially government spending, to create economic and social balance that achieves prosperity for society. This policy is manifested in job creation, support for local products and industries, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, promotion of research and development, and attraction of investment.
